US Deaths from Iraq and Afghan Wars
Undercounted by 100%

In a Thomas Insel, director of the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland said that the number of US Iraq/Afghanistan veterans who have committeed suicide may be more than the number of combat deaths. That would mean another 4,500 deaths. Insel briefed reporters May 5th at the American Psychiatric Association's annual meeting of 15,000 psychiatrists in Washington.

Bloomberg news reports that Insel blames the deaths on "inadequate mental health care" . Recently the RAND corporation issued a study saying that some 300,000 veterans suffered from PTSD and that only half received treatment and judged that half of those received inadequate treatment.

Bloomberg reported that the Pentagon did not dispute the Insel's remark and its spokesperson said that returned an email by saying the military was taking the issue very seriously.

The Bloomberg article written by Avram Goldstein was very clear that the thousands of PTSD linked deaths were brought on by exposure to combat. Peace groups should very seriously consider how to carefully explain that in reality 9,000 US soldiers have already died in the so-called War on Terror.

2 Out or 3 Americans Want US Out of Iraq in Six Months

According to a poll paid for by democrats.com and carried out by International Communications Research of Pennsylvania 68% of Americans want troops home and out of Iraq in six months. This is a 14% increase from last September. 16% agree to a statement that the military should be given $50 billion more to bring the troops home, but 51% believe the troops should be brought home with existing money.

At the start of the year other polls suggested Americans things were starting to go well in Iraq, but in view of the increased violence and the evident desire of Patreus to wipe out the Sadrist forces in Iraq Americans sensibly realize things are once again going to hell for our troops.
