International Jewish Statement
Against an Attack on Iran

Background: Though the US and British governments have had their designs on Iran many decades, the loudest drumbeats for war against Iran currently come from the far-right US lobby AIPAC and the Israeli government. When the New York Times gave Israeli historian Benny Morris room on its op-ed page for a hysterical demand for aggression against Iran, Jews from around the world banded together to issue a statement in opposition.

Below is the statement signed by over 150 Jews opposing an attack on Iran. Perhaps its most well known names are Noam Chomsky from MIT, Israelis Avi Shlaim, Lea Tsemel, Michael Warschawski and Uri Davis, James Cohen, Université de Paris VIII (France) and reknowned Canadian concert pianist Dr. Anton Kuerti

Organizational signers were the Alliance of Concerned Jewish Canadians, Colorado Jews for a Just Peace, Granny Peace Brigade (Philadelphia), Germantown Friends Meeting, Peace & Social Concerns, Independent Jewish Voices Montreal, Jewish Peace Fellowship (Nyack, NY), Jewish Voice for a Just Peace (Switzerland), Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods, New Profile (Israel), Women in Black (San Francisco Bay Area in Oakland, California), Women in Black (Vienna). The statement was coordinated by Abraham Weizfeld in Montreal, Prof. Dr. Fanny-Michaela Reisin in Berlin and Stanley Heller in CT, USA.
