MECC on What the Lobby Is and Isn't

At its April 13 meeting the membership of the Middle East Crisis Committee voted this resolution about the Israel Lobby

MECC is committed to Human Rights for all. Only when human rights for all groups are respected can we achieve Justice and Peace. The commitment to all groups means that we are for the human rights of Palestinians, Israelis, Iraqis, Americans, Immigrants, etc. MECC is willing to work with any group that is also committed to the human rights of all.

MECC denounces the militaristic Israel Lobby and urges the anti-war movement to criticize it at rallies. We see the influence of the lobby as one factor pushing us towards war as are interests who push for control of Middle East oil, companies dependent on weapons sales and a military that wants bases worldwide. MECC rejects the proposition that the Israel Lobby is the sole motivation for the war.
